padPARTICULATES: are solid particles formed or generated from solid materials through mechanical processes such as grinding, drilling, sanding or milling. Examples include lead, silica and asbestos.

FUMES: are solid particles that are formed when a metal or other solid vaporizes and the molecules condense (or solidify) in cool air. Fumes come from operations Such as welding and smelting metal.

GASES: are materials that exist as individual molecules in the air at room temperature. Gases are similar to air in their ability to diffuse or spread freely throughout an area. Examples are Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide, Saren and Nerve Gas.

BIOLOGICAL HAZARDS: include bacteria, virus, fungi, and other living organisms. These can cause acute or chronic infections when inhaled resulting in illness or in extreme cases death. Examples include Legionnaire's Disease, SmallPox, Anthrax and the Flu.
